Mrs. Pearlman's Class

giraffe & Mrs. PearlmanMeet the Teacher

So who is Mrs. Pearlman?  Does she really live in the coat closet in room 8?  I hear that she never, ever leaves the school!  And why does she assign soooooo much math homework?

math boardTo start with — I LOVE math!  I feel strongly that math is the key to my students' futures, and so I make every effort to instill my love of math in them!

I have two very important jobs in my life.  One is that I am a teacher, and the other is that I am a mom!

I have been a teacher in Tracy for 21 years, and have taught 6th grade GATE, 7th and 8th grade electives, 3rd grade, a 4th / 5th combo, and last but definitely not least, 4th grade for 14 years!

frogI did not always want to be a teacher, in fact, I wanted a job that used a lot of math!  I went to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where I earned my degree from the School of Industrial Technology and Engineering.  I then went to work in San Francisco for the Otis Elevator Company.  I loved my job and I was working with math and science every single day!

school houseFortunately for me, I was transferred to Arizona and decided not to go.  My husband, Mitch, suggested that I should teach math and science.  I decided to give it a try.  I fell in love with being in a classroom the first day that I substitute taught in the Sunnyvale School District.  I immediately entered Santa Clara University, where I earned my California Teaching Credential.  Funny how life is, I also met my best friend, Ms. Batrez.

bluebirdWell, here I am almost 22 years later, a teacher.  Oh, and Ms. Batrez, well, she's a teacher too.  In fact she's teaching across the library from me!

This past school year I earned my Master's Degree in Education and am very excited to bring my new skills to the classroom!

DalmationsWhen I leave school I instantly become Nathan, Natalie, and Nicholas's mom.  I drive to football, swim and waterpolo practices, Girl Scout and Boy Scout meetings and catechism.  I also get to do homework with three tired kids!  I am a scrapbooker, an Eagle Scout advisor, the owner of two Dalmatian dogs (Buster and Betty), and a lover of diet coke and cashews (OK, and M & M's, too!).

flowersI love to read books, watch movies and spend time with my husband, Mitch.  My favorite days are spent camping or water skiing with family and friends.  My life is very full and I wouldn't change a thing!
